Website Privacy Policy for Verifi Media

Verifi Media ("Verifi") is committed to keeping your personal information safe.  We collect personal information from our website located at http://verifi.media (the “Site” or the “Website”), our mobile applications, API and through our services, which help creators and rights owners identify when they are entitled to royalties from the use of their works (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you consent to our use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”). If you do not agree to the Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

The Services present information and content that is owned, licensed, or provided by Verifi its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Administrator"). The Services may also include services provided by third parties and distributed through the Site by virtue of a license, grant or some other form of agreement between the third party and Administrator. When used in this Privacy Policy, "we", “us” and "our" mean Administrator. It does not include any third parties.

I.         Information We Collect and How We Use It

Information You Provide To Us.

When you register an account to use the Services, sign up to receive updates from us, or complete our contact us form, you will be asked to provide your personal information to us.  When you conduct transactions through us, we will collect information about those transactions. Below is a list of the information that you provide to us through the Services:

  • Contact Information, including your name, contact details (such as a postal address and email address), event or conference registration and related information (including dietary restrictions or photos and videos taken at events), and communication preferences.

    • We use this information to register you, send you information and updates about the Services, process your survey results and respond to your requests.

  • Account Information, including name, username, and account ID.

    • We use this to manage your account with us, including to verify your identity and limit access to your account, and to track your transactions and entries.

  • Financial Information, including credit and debit card information, bank account and routing number, and billing and shipping address.

    • We use this information to process your payments.

  • Commercial Information, including records of your payments and transactions through the Services.

    • We use this information to comply with our contractual obligations to you and for recordkeeping purposes.

Information We Collect Automatically

We also collect information about your interactions with the Services using technology such as web beacons, cookies, embedded web links and other software (together, “Cookies”).  Cookies are typically small data files or software that are sent to your browser and stored on your computer's or mobile device's hard drive. Most browsers and display software can be set to inform you when Cookies are used.  Certain functional Cookies are required in order for the Site to operate, but you can refuse all other Cookies at any time.

The information we collect automatically includes:

  • Online Identifiers, including IP address and cookie IDs

    • We use this information to understand your use of the Services (for example, the articles you read or whether you open our emails). We may associate your identifiers with your contact information.

    • We use this information to verify the information you provide manually and to provide you with location-based content. We also use your location information to improve your experience with the Services.

  • Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information, including the date and time you access the Services, your internet service provider, mobile carrier, or data services provider, the pages you visit, the links you click, the features used, how and when you interact with the Services, how you arrived at the Services and where you go when you leave.

    • We use this information to understand how you use the Services so that we can improve them. We also use this information to manage the Site, resolve problems with the Site.

II.         When Do We Share Personal Information?

We share personal information in the following circumstances:

  • Our Customers:  Companies who are rights holders and users of our Services.

  • Service Providers: Companies who use your personal information solely on our behalf to provide services to us, including our email newsletter providers.

  • Law Enforcement and Regulators: If we are required to disclose personal information in connection with valid request from law enforcement or a regulator, we will do so.

  • In Connection with an Acquisition or A Merger: We will share information with companies that are seeking to (or do) acquire part or all of Verifi or an affiliated company.

III.         How Long Do We Retain Your Information?

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes for which it was collected. When we decide how long we will keep your information we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, why we need it, and any relevant legal requirements (such as legal retention and destruction periods).  We may anonymize your personal information (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes.

IV.         How Do We Protect Your Information

While we may provide encryption technologies and use other reasonable precautions to protect confidential information and provide suitable security, we do not guarantee that information transmitted through the Internet is secure, or that such transmissions will be free from delay, interruption, interception or error.

We have put in place certain physical, technological and managerial procedures to safeguard the personally identifiable information we collect. However, these procedures do not guarantee that the information will remain secure against theft or misuse.

V.         Your Choices

Opt-out of Email and other Communication.  You have the right to opt-out of marketing communications from us.

  • Select the "opt out" or "unsubscribe" link, or follow the opt-out instructions that may be included in such communication

  • Where applicable, return to the web page(s) or service where you originally registered your preferences and follow the opt-out instructions.

VI.         Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or distribute personal information from children under the age of 16 As one measure to ensure that we do not gather personally identifiable information from children under 16, we require that all individuals provide a valid credit card number before completing a purchase order. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under the age of 16 and believe that we have collected personally identifiable information contrary to this policy or, in the United States, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), please contact us by e-mail so that we may delete such information. What Information Do We Sell/Share?

California customers have the following rights:

  • Right to Deletion. You have the right to request that we delete certain personal data we have about you.

  • Right to Access. You have the right to request that we inform you about the categories of personal data we collect or disclose about you; the categories of sources of such data; the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal data; and the categories of third parties with whom we share/disclose personal data. Such information is also set forth above in this Privacy Policy. You may also request that we provide you access to and/or a copy of the specific pieces of personal data we collected about you (also called a data portability request).

  • Right to Correction. If you feel that any of the records of personal data we have about you are incorrect, you have a right to request that we correct those inaccuracies. This right does not extend to matters of opinion, such as views expressed in editorial content.

  • No Discrimination. You have the right to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

  • Right to Opt-Out. You have the right to opt-out of the “sale” of your personal data.  We do not disclose personal data for cross-contextual advertising.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal data of minors under 16 years of age without legally-required affirmative authorization.

We will use your personal information data only for the purposes for which we collect it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason that is compatible with the original purpose. Below is the lawful bases we rely on when we process your personal information:

IX.         International Transfers

When we process your personal information, we may do so in the countries where we have offices or provide Services, including the United States. Likewise, third parties with whom we share your data may be based outside the EEA and their processing of your personal data may involve a transfer of data outside the EEA. Our agreements with those third parties include Commission-approved standard contractual clauses and otherwise make clear the standards we expect of them in order to safeguard your information and your legal rights.

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. If we change it, we will post the then-current Privacy Policy onto this page. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be effective as of the day they are posted.
